MARINA REAL APARTMENT Duquesa Spain
Just a few of the many sights available to See & enjoy locally
Let’s start with places to view locally.
If you walk along the beach or promenade, away from the Port, you will pass 2 beach bar restaurants.
You will them come across El Castillo a fortress which is said to date back to the 18th century. It is well worth spending an hour to have a look and take a few photographs. There was an art exhibition on show, the last time we were there, and the Kids loved looking at the canon and battlement walls.
The fortress is on the outskirts to a small village of the same name Castillo de la Duquesa.
Here there are a few places to eat, but you must book in advance as they are extremely popular with both the locals and visitors. It is a lovely little place to stroll around, beautifully Spanish.
Finally it has a large sea wall built to protect the village, but a great spot for uninterrupted views across the Mediterranean to north Africa. Look left to the east, which is in the direction of Fuengirola, or look right towards the west for the rock of Gibraltar.
Now if you exit “Marina Real” by the Marina door, follow the road around the port, then rejoin the beach or promenade and again walk away from the port. This will now take you to Sabinillas which caters for all. It has many bars, restaurants, shops, supermarkets including Lidl, taxis, buses or just places to view and enjoy.
We would usually walk from Duquesa to the supermarket then get a taxi back. If you like to potter then there is a Sunday market near Lidl. Selling anything from pot and pans to linen, clothes, handbags, hats, souvenirs, jewellery, tableware and sunglasses. Plus a lot more.
The Costa del sol is said to have 30 golf courses, one which is only a few minutes away. La Duquesa Golf and country club, boasts an 18 hole, 70 par and is fully equip with golf buggy hire, trolleys, putting green and a self service restaurant, The spa has saunas, steam rooms, whirlpool and an indoor pool. Or for the more energised there is a gym, tennis.
Along the marina are posted many boat or fishing trips available, also where to enjoy more water sports.
The marina area enjoys over 20 different restaurants and takeaways, from Mexican, Indian, Chinese, pizza, Tapas, English carvery, to bars serving snacks. Keep an eye out for which bar on the marina will be offering early evening bargains. It’s a nice relaxing feeling, having a drink while the sun sets, sitting on the marina.
About Keeping It Real
Thank you for taking the time to browse my site. This section has been dedicated to Puerto de la Duquesa Spain, on the beautiful Costa del Sol and the area surrounding the property.
To keep the site real, all the Photographs used, including the beautiful headers have been taken by me. Hopefully it will give a true account of the region as I am not a photographer, giving you an idea of what to expect before booking your holiday.
The 2 bedroom apartment is called a Duplex, as the bedrooms are upstairs, and the living quarters downstairs which is very sort after when you are close to the beach. It helps to keep the bedrooms clear. One bedroom has an ensuite, the other has the family bathroom next door.
There is also a toilet downstairs, hallway with cupboard space, well equipped kitchen and utility room.
The living/dinning room has large patio doors that open up to our terrace with table, chairs and planters. Then a few feet beyond that is the first of two swimming pools with a sea view. There are communal sun beds available.
An underground car park helps to keep the car close by and cool, alternatively you may prefer the bus or taxi, both very close by.
